A Day of History in Waterbury Connecticut

Waterbury is charming little city located on the Naugatuck River Southwest of Hartford Connecticut. It is also know as the “Brass City” for its history in brassware manufacturing during the first half of the 20th century. For more information on the history of Waterbury please visit the local chamber of commerce’s website, www.waterburychamber.com.

My day in Waterbury began waking up in a cozy bed and breakfast near the Naugatuck River. After some coffee and a late breakfast I headed out to see some of the attractions this charismatic town had to offer. Waterbury is a historical city making it a wonderful place for any history buff to visit.

My first stop was to the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception. Built in 1847 this Roman Catholic church offers immaculate architecture in its construction as well as a lavish interior full of wonder and intriguing details.

My next stop was to the Holy Land USA Ruins which can be best described as a mini Jerusalem and a photographer’s dream. Holy Land USA Ruins has a rich history and is a must see for anyone with an adventurous personality. Please visit www.damnedct.com for more information on the ruins.

If you are interested in taking in some historical sites then spending a day in Waterbury Connecticut is the place for you.
